Virgil Woodard
Jun 3, 2018Virgil was born Aug. 9, 1932, in Newton, the son of Eldon V. and Clara Adeline (Engelmann) Woodard. Virgil was a veteran of the U.S. Navy for 2½ years. He served in the ceremonial guard.He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Bement. Virgil worked 18 years at Burroughs, Inc. and 20 years at Iroquois Federal Savings and Loan. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Karen (Odell) Woodard of Bement; children, Mark (Michelle) of Geneva, Marcia (Dominic) Imburgia of Effingham, Jeffrey (Tammy) of Mackinaw, Stephen (Lori) of Downs and Michael of Bement; siblings, Carolyn Ruff, Jeane Marsh, Teresa Woodard and Tim Woodard; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glenn; sister, Wanda; and great-grandchild, Hagen. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Bement. Prayer service will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018, with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be in Keller Cemetery, Lovington.
